New Now - Student Awards Brief 2019/20: UK Greetings
The Brief
Create a collection of greeting cards, notecards, notepads, gift bags and wrapping paper using any illustrative style, patterns, painterly illustrations, lettering and designs that feature characters or use humour.
The Idea
A collection of simple illustrations exploring the theme of rebuses inviting the recipient to work out the phrase. A playful and humorous collection to make you smile.
Research
The greetings cards market is huge and there’s a lot out there. There tends to be many more cards that are overly sweet and serious than funny and playful ones so I used my love for puns (both good and bad) to create my own collection.
Development
From filling a page with as many greetings card type puns as I could I took to creating simple illustrations to accompany them which lead me to replacing words with the pictures.
