Love Birds
STB Live Brief
The Brief
Create a brand name, visual identity and packaging for a range of bird seed trusted by and appealing to a specified target audience.
The Idea
A series of easily recognisable bird seed boxes from a friendly brand that focuses on making it as easy as possible to care for the birds in your back garden.
Research
Looking at the competition I found a lot of similarities with packaging designs most of which were overcrowded. My design had to be clear and bold to stand out on the shelves and appear welcoming to my target audience which I identified as older people with a love for nature.
Branding
Originally I came up with the brand name "Top of the Flock" but after feedback I realised that this name didn't fit well with the icon I was developing. This lead me to change the name to "Love Birds".
Packaging
I wanted to make it as easy as possible for older people to use the product, leading me to design around a feature allowing for the seed to be poured out and resealed. Having a bird - shaped design would be an impractical shape for both manufacturing and storage which is why I went with a regular box shape.
